Born and raised by two artists parents in Venice, CA, Donni grew up immersed in visual art. She earned a BFA in Photography from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating, she was in search of a hands-on creative career and out of curiosity, she cold-called a well-established make-up artist in the film industry. Within several months, Donni completed a crash-course in cinematic make-up techniques, and began a three month apprenticeship in the make-up department on a Michael Mann film shot in Hong Kong.
Donni’s commitment to authenticity and collaboration, as well as her distinguished attention to detail, have quickly advanced her career as a make-up department head for film and TV. Her most recent work includes HBO’s new show EUPHORIA, A24’s Under the Silver Lake, and Barry Jenkins’s If Beale Street Could Talk & Moonlight. Her work as make-up department head on the Best Picture winner at the 2017 Academy Awards, Moonlight, was featured by Vogue magazine.
Donni lives in northeast LA and travels throughout the country and abroad, telling stories through her make-up contributions. In addition to feature films, she works on select short films, music videos, commercials, photo shoots and fine arts projects.
